URBAN DISCIPLESHIP (UDTS)

URBAN DISCIPLESHIP (UDTS)
Teaching requires the transmission of ideas and concepts. While training requires the transmission of learned skills. This is discipleship.

Jesus’ principle was to invest His maximum time in the lives of those who would bear great responsibility in the future ministry of the Church

The goal of Urban Discipleship therefore is to produce effective workers in the Church, who will motivate the Church to live the life of Christ; and disciple the nations for Him. Matt.28:18-20. For us in Disciples on Mission, God’s mandate is Job.33:24 and to be a light, to lighten Africa. Every branch of this work is emphatically designed to achieve a purpose.

Our Intentions
The lack of power in our Christian living today, and the various problems and difficulties facing the modern Christian can be traced to the absence of Discipleship in our Churches and fellowships.
It is lack of Discipleship that makes us carnal and worldly, and hinders us from knowing the will of God in every area of our lives.

The absence of Discipleship makes it easy for us to be deceived by both men and devil, as we are “carried about with every wind of doctrine…” (Eph.4:14).

Lack of Discipleship also robs us of sound and lively fellowship with God, and makes us ineffective in Christian service. It makes it difficult for us to study God’s word regularly and apply the lessons of Scriptures to our daily living.

When there is no discipleship, men live carelessly and have no vision. They lack direction and find it hard to become great for God.
BUT Discipleship will put you over in life: It will elevate your faith, and energize your prayer life.
When you are a disciple of Christ, you will find it difficult to sin (Jn.10:1-9; Gen.39:7-10).

The door to Christian service is discipleship (Lu.9:62).
The door to holy living is discipleship (Dan.123)
The door to health and prosperity is discipleship (Isa.1:12-20); Jb.22:21-28
The door to fruit-bearing is discipleship Jn.154-9
The way to discover the will of God and do exploits for Him is by enrolling in the discipleship course of Christ. (Dan.11:32).

Jesus says, “come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest, LEARN OF ME… and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” (Matt.11:28-29).

Discipleship enables us to endure hardships, and wait patiently for God to lift us up, knowing that “all things work together for good to them that love God” (Gen.39&41; Rom.828).

Therefore, we have been compelled by love and the Spirit of Jesus to teach these discipleship principles to the Church, that we may experience the fullness of Christ and his power as in the days of old.

The demand for a “wholesome gospel” is inestimable! The society yearns for a Christianity that works; while the oppressed look for the Gospel that brings deliverance and peace. A Gospel that shows love in action: Love that flows from the heart because it issues from the throne (Rom.5:5). This is what makes Christianity the salt of the earth. And it is what Discipleship is all about! Our intention then, is to call believers to a closer walk with God; and renewed fellowship in the Gospel.

Past Activities
UDTS was founded on May 4th 1996 and ever since then it has continued to train and graduate focused youths for service in the kingdom of Christ.

Schedule of activities
It runs from February to November every year in unique settings situated in different localities e.g. Enugu centre, Lagos centre etc.

For effectiveness and quality, only about 7-11 candidates at various levels are trained per session in every centre. And the peculiarity of our training makes admission highly competitive.

We offer free tuition. And our Trainers are seasoned Disciple makers.

The Life and ministry of our past students present a standing testimony of integrity and vision. Take a bold step today and fill your lamps against tomorrow’s night vigils!
